Choose Kindness

Why being kind is better than being right?

Why do people are so good at pointing out all the wrong things they saw on a person or in a situation without knowing first what the truth is.

Yes, all of us are so good at judging people without knowing the whole story. Sometimes, we tend to argue with them because, at the back of our mind, we are the one who is right. Now tell me, what do you feel when you try to prove that they are wrong and all your arguments are correct? Do you really feel happy?

Let's not be a hypocrite on this matter. Every day, we always make a choice when it comes to deciding on the things that can make us happy. As much as we want, we don't want a negative vibe or a negative mindset around us. Who really wants to have a bad day anyway, right? But, whatever we do, circumstances may test us, people may try us, gossips may trouble us. Yet, despite all these things, all of us can always have the ability to choose kindness.

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said "To be kind is more important than to be right. Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens." Surely, no one likes being wrong. But, fighting for what you think alone is right would not help you win. Instead, try to calm yourself and offer an open heart that is ready to listen. Allowing your heart to listen is not a sign of weakness but rather helps you understand the situation and empathize with others.

It is not always about you all the time. Learn the fact that every one of us has our own problems and struggles. Whenever we are in the middle of arguments, try to listen and put ourselves in the shoes of other people. We may think that we are right, but proving them wrong would not make us a hero. Try to help them understand the situation. Not all of us can comprehend and grasp the situation right away. We are different from each other. Blessed are you to have the ability to discern what is true and right from wrong. Again, when you are the one who can understand the situation, try to be more patient. I know it's not easy, but at least give it a try. And if they did not appreciate your efforts and try to understand the situation, then, it's time for you to let them go. At least, you give them the chance to discern and discover what is wrong. Your choice of giving them the chance to choose between being right from wrong can be a validation that you can be that kind person to anyone.

Again, being kind is something that we can always choose at any time and any moment. Each act of kindness that we do every day, can positively affect others. It's contagious. It changes how we see ourselves and how others see us. Always remember that we have thousands of chances and choices that we can make in life. Let's not waste those opportunities to take the lead in choosing kindness.
